to Oxidative Stress

Background
Field of technology: Oxidative stress via reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes
metabolic and vascular disorders including chronic metabolic syndrome, hypertension
and type II diabetes.
Challenge: To find alternative and safe prevention and treatment in order to control
or reduce deleterious effects of ROS easily harmonized with diet, improve patient
compliance and treatment adherence.
Brief description
The invention relates to increasing the
serum level of a relatively small molecule
normally present in the cells. This new
indication of this natural molecule is
useful in the prevention, amelioration
or treatment of a condition mediated by
oxidative stress, including metabolic
syndrome, type II diabetes, hypertension,
vascular diseases, heart failure, in
humans and mammals. Nutraceuticals or
functional foods with a health claim are
also available and may be used to supplement known treatment regimes.

• Use as a medicament
• Use as a nutraceutical or functional food with a health claim
IP Status: Patent pending (USA, Europe) and PCT filed. The disclosed method and
technology is fully owned by the University of Pécs.
